The Outerbanks of North Carolina are a string of barrier islands that stretch over 100 miles from the border with Virginia to Wilmington and the beginning of Myrtle Beach, SC. Jutting out from the main land mass of the eastern seaboard, the Outer Banks can suffer greatly from hurricanes, but is resilient.
