Old South Golf Hole at Hilton Head Golf

Comments - Designed by award winning course architect, Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links is a tribute to man working within nature's fragile guidelines. Not only did Johnston preserve the natural beauty of the land near the Hilton Head Golf island, his design allows golfers to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, it's natural amenities and spectacular views. As Johnston himself so aptly put it, "the variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play. The course is unique in the Hilton Head golf community in that it is un-cluttered by housing, and the natural setting allows for an abundance of wildlife - osprey, egrets, deer, and alligators.

Guests to the Hilton Head Island beach community and critics alike have been raving about Johnston's work since the beginning when Old South Golf Links was selected by Golf Digest as one of the "top ten new public courses of 1992." Featuring towering live oaks, rolling Scottish terrain and magnificent views from island greens, Old South has truly become a Low-country favorite for those that live there and those visiting the Hilton Head golf courses. You will not find staff more friendly or accommodating anywhere in the Hilton Head golfing region. Replays are almost a must in order to see the marsh holes at both high AND low tides.

Located just off the main island of resort area of Hilton Head in Bluffton yet close to all that the island has to offer, Old South will become your favorite as it has to the "locals."
