Schroeder's 66 Takes Top Honors in Mayor's Junior Tournament at Rocky River Golf Club

CONCORD, N.C. -- Concord's Stephen Schroeder fired an impressive six-under 66 on Tuesday to win the ninth annual Mayor's Junior Golf Tournament. The tourney is completely funded by the City of Concord and held at the city-owned Rocky River Golf Club. There is no entry fee for participants, who must reside in Cabarrus County.
Schroeder defended his title in the 15-17 age group. He made seven birdies, including three on the first four holes, to go along with one bogey. Luke Vernon of Concord was second in the 15-17 division with a 76.
In the 12-14 age group, Concord's Amos Capps took first place with an 81. Finishing second was Will Schotter of Concord at 85.
The 9-11 age group played nine holes, with Harrisburg's Brody Davis finishing first with a 50. Joseph Bruner of Concord was second with a 53.
The tournament, which was posted from Aug. 13 because of rain, drew a field of 45 golfers.
