Olde Sycamore Expands Patriot Golf Day to Four Days, Aug. 31-Sept. 3

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation will not only participate in the nation’s first Patriot Golf Day on Saturday, Sept. 1, the club has expanded its participation to include the entire holiday weekend, Aug. 31 through Sept. 3.

During that time, Olde Sycamore is donating $1 from every round of golf at the course to benefit the Fallen Heroes Foundation, which supports families of military members who’ve become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty.

Patriot Golf Day is a joint venture of the PGA of America and the USGA. Spearheaded by PGA pro Dan Rooney of Stillwater, Okla., an F-16 pilot who has logged tours of duty in Iraq, the day allows golfers across the nation to donate an extra dollar per round to support the Fallen Heroes Foundation.

However, Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation will not ask golfers to donate. Instead, the course will automatically take $1 from every round and contribute to the cause.

“We just decided to make a donation from each round and to expand it to four days to cover the entire holiday weekend,” said general manager Ted Staats. “We wanted to do as much as we possible could for our fallen soldiers in appreciation of what they’ve done for our country.”

Staats said the ownership and management of Olde Sycamore strongly support United States military personnel and the sacrifices they make to ensure our country’s freedom.
